Here are a selection of comments from the 2,300 strong Lido petition so far:

LC, TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
This is a must for Twickenham’s long term regeneration!

TS, TWICKENHAM
A great and sound idea to really rejuvenate the riverside. Self funding and fully costed so minimal cost to the local tax payers.

JA, TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
I would like to see more in Twickenham than pubs and charity shops.

GR,TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
I am a local resident that would use this facility.

SN, TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
I’d really like to see a lido in Twickenham and it would be an amazing feature for the riverside which seems to have strong financial support.

MB, TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
At last something positive being developed for the people of Twickenham. It has been idle for far too long!

SD, TWICKENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM
It will bring a whole new lease of life to the area and generate business. We need this as the town centre is starting to die and shops are closing down.

  1. The local council has shown a complete lack of imagination and vision in dealing with Twickenham Riverside. For years they have dithered about how to treat this lovely area and more recently have shown a disregard for local wishes and ideas. In fact, secretive and evasive would be more appropriate terms in this respect. A space to be enjoyed by the community, including a lido, would be the solution. They seem more interested in creating retail outlets, as if Twickenham doesn't have enough lying empty at the moment. This is an opportunity to create something for the benefit of all; something attractive and in keeping with the area. Richmond and Twickenham Council, don't mess it up!!!
