Our travel and transport correspondent joined Wandsworth Council Leader Ravi Govindia and The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP to witness the historic “breakthrough” moment for the new Northern Line extension. Boring machine “Amy” crunched through the last layer of rock at Kennington, connecting the two 3.2 km tunnels from Battersea Power Station, via Nine Elms.
