I’m currently in my final year studying Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway University of London. Whilst studying I have engaged in numerous placements with media companies including Insanity Radio FM., Shout OUT U.K, and Winkball. I’ve produced created documentaries and write a blog on issues that matter to me.  Determined to further expand on my experience and skill, I’ve joined SWL.TV to develop my career in Journalism.

Favourite thing about SWL.TV

My favourite thing has to be the people! Everyone I have met has been so welcoming and warm. There is a genuine ethos for teamwork and helping each other.

Life Outside SWL.TV

I love exploring London and finding vegan spots! I’m really into art exhibitions and also going to Pets’ Yoga every once in a while. Recently, I’ve developed an intense fascination for star signs, astrology and spirituality – I’m looking forward to exploring these themes within my journalism career!

Fiona is an international host, speaker, and presenter who’s passionate about improving the lives of women and young mothers. She’s enjoyed speaking around the world and conducting interviews with renowned comedians, technology experts, and more. She’s a passionate advocate for and minorities and has spoken on the BBC and other national radio networks. A natural TV personality, Fiona looks forward to launching her own show in the future and is the proud recipient of numerous awards for her global activism and speaking.

Fiona loves the variety of topics she’s able to dive into with SWL.TV. She enjoys getting to know people from all walks of life and talking about the real issues they face.

When she’s not presenting, Fiona is the founder and director of Young Mums Support Network, a community interest organisation that provides support to young mothers. She’s also an event host and mentor, a mum to two children and enjoys spending family time together travelling across England outside of work.

As a local resident and relative newcomer to the South West Television team I’ve really enjoyed learning about the charitable local projects which are going on in and around the borough and the inspiring local people behind some of these projects.

The variety of the projects I’ve been involved with.  Each has been a whirlwind of different people, locations and challenges which I’ve enjoyed learning about.

My other passions are dance and fitness and toxic chemical free skincare.

I also volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better Charity which works with women and men going through cancer and the changes they go through and maintaining their identity through there skincare and beauty routine.  I love music, dance, and mini breaks!

Career

Kay is a Freelance PR and Media Consultant for SMART PR Training and Consultancy. She works mostly with Not-for-Profits and small business owners. Kay started out as a journalist working in Asian newspapers and moved on to national titles including the Guardian and Sunday Times, and short sub-editing stints at the Sun and Daily Mail.  With over 10 years experience working in print she moved to broadcast in 2014; her last gig was as a business correspondent and news presenter at volunteer community radio station Wandsworth Radio.

I like the professionalism and support provided by the team, enabling me to get the best out of all my interviewees. Also enjoy meeting inspiring entrepreneurs and businesses and finding out what makes them get out of bed each morning.

Kay is mad about TED Talks, and is currently organising her second TedxWandsworth event.  Kay lives in Putney and loves walking along the river towpath and meeting funny dogs and their owners. She’s also a great fan of pub quizzes; specialist subject news and current affairs, and when time allows taking photographs with her Canon 400d.

Career

Laura Cornelius has been a regular presenter for BSkyB’s Sky Poker which broadcasts live from the Sky studios in Osterley. She has been a professional freelance presenter and reporter for the past 5 years, producing and presenting over 1500 videos for online and TV from subjects as diverse as politics to sport and children’s TV.

A trained actress also, she is the voice for the current ‘Laterooms.com’ TV advert showing across all terrestrial channels and McDonalds Breakfast radio advert. The feature film ‘Glamourdolls’ in which she starred is also set for release this year. Available for television, corporate, live events and voice-overs.

Seeing a different side of London with the emergency services, or whizzing up the Thames with by boat with the Royal Marines.

I’ve worked in and around South West London for over 2 years and I love what the area has to offer; from the array of restaurants, music venues and other forms of entertainment. Regardless of your tastes, there’s always something to do.

As one of the newest members of the SWLTV team, my first experiences have been like a whirlwind of fun activities and certainly kept me on my toes!

I enjoy communicating and meeting all types of people and have learnt British Sign Language. Although, I need to brush up on my skills – I do enjoy visiting deaf clubs and interacting with the deaf community. When I’m not working, you can usually find me at my local Crossfit class or at home watching documentaries on Netflix – no chill though!

Career

After years of studying Law at the University of Surrey, Pia decided to throw her degree out of the window and head to London to follow her dreams. She has since become an established and versatile presenter working on numerous corporate, commercial and entertainment projects. As an actress, she has performed in various theatre productions, films and commercials. She also co-wrote, directed, produced and played three roles in her first film entitled ‘Jack French & Son’ which was shortlisted for the Reed Short Film Competition. She regularly hosts the short film event ‘Shorts on Tap’ and is in the process of writing her next short blockbuster!

Favourite thing about SWLTV

Being given the opportunity to train with the Royal Marines, abseil down a fire station in glitter wedges, cuddle the Dreamboys at Sexpo and dress up as Poison Ivy for Comic Con all in the name of ‘work!’ That and working with the best team ever!

Is there life outside of SWLTV?! If there were, Pia might be found with her nose in a book, sipping prosecco whilst coming up with her next mad idea or training to be a belly dancer.

Career

Alastair spent his childhood on his parents’ farm in Cornwall, coming to London in 1986, and spending much of his time in and around Fulham. He worked for several yearson cruise ships like Cunard’s iconic QE2, visiting over 140 countries in the process.

In 2011 he resumed his performing career and has since appeared on numerous TV programmes and corporate videos as well as commercials and news reports. He’s interviewed politicians, business leaders and celebrities, as well as being the MC at key events around the UK. He’s also a communications trainer where he helps individuals and groups develop their presenting and media skills.

Getting to travel around our area on every mode of transport possible including foot, bike, boat, bus, tube and even electric car!

Life Outside SWL.TV

Believe it or not travel is still in his blood, so he’s never happier than jumping on a plane, heading off for another adventure! Skiing is a real passion, although as there isn’t much of it available in South West London, he also loves cycling and walking. In 2015 completed a Kilimanjaro climb for charity.

Presenter – Theatre and Arts

Career

Growing up in Sutton, Charlie always knew he was going to entertain in one way or another. At the tender age of eight, he won a national search to find Jongleurs UK’s Funniest Kid in Stand Up Comedy.  He went on to gig at many venues across the country – including Jethro’s Club, Cornwall and The Irish Pub, International Drive, Florida – all before he reached ten years of age.

Charlie always said he would avoid university and the three extra years in education and instead ‘get his foot into the industry door.’ He kept his word when, four months after leaving sixth form, he found The Colour House Theatre, Merton Abbey Mills, SW19. After just one audition he was cast as Aladdin in the 2011 Christmas Pantomime – his theatrical debut – which begun an ongoing affinity between the two. During his time as an actor at The Colour House, Charlie starred in a record setting seven productions and three consecutive pantomimes.

Meeting new people, and building building a relationship with his them in order to get their best answers on camera.

Life Outside SWL.TV

Charlie now works behind the scenes as the theatre manage and artistic director of Abbeyfest, a two month summer festival. He is passionate about his role at the theatre and loves the flexibility that the job gives him.  Although Charlie loves acting and directing he has a natural flair for presenting and is also a keen interviewer – having interviewed the X-FactorsWagner and Britain’s Got Talent’s Gabz, to name a few – and  He has a (no longer) secret passion for WWE Wrestling, which has led him to become a news presenter on the WrestleTalk TV YouTube Channel.
